GHASP Evening Talks 2025

Please join us for our series of Evening Talks 2025. We are pleased to announce a program of speakers designed to bring new ideas, inspiration and promote discussion. Talks will take place at 7pm and are very informal (cuppas welcome). The talks will last between 30-45 minutes with plenty of time for discussion afterwards. Monday 31st March - 7pm

The Importance of Social Sustainability to Climate Resilient Development- Jacob Krzanowski

Dr Jacob Krzanowski works as a consultant addiction psychiatrist in South London. He is the associate registrar of sustainability for the Royal College of Psychiatrists for whom he chairs it’s Planetary Health and Sustainability Committee (PHSC) and is a Trustee of the UK Health Alliance for Climate Change (UKHACC). As an associate of the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) he helped develop the Green Walking Initiative. His interest lies in promoting an appreciation of human health’s dependence on nature and the development of mental health services that embody values of sustainability.

Plant-Based Healthcare- Shireen Kassan and Amy Roach

Greener by Default and Plant Based Healthcare.

Dr Shireen Kassam is a Consultant Haematologist, Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician and

Visiting Professor of Plant-Based Nutrition. She is founder of Plant-Based Health

Professionals UK, a community interest company that provides education on healthy plant-

based diets and lifestyle medicine.

Amy is a UK Registered Dietitian and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Health Professional. She has been practising as a Dietitian for six years in the acute setting, including intervals spent specialising in adult stroke and critical care. Amy understands the need for ongoing high quality healthcare and believes this can be achieved in ways more sustainable to protect both people and planet. In line with this, Amy spent a year working as an NHS England Sustainability Fellow alongside her dietetic work, where she worked as part of a team implementing sustainable projects and raising awareness.

Thursday 8th May - 7pm

Regenerative Healthcare- William Beasley

Will Beasley is a consultant upper gastrointestinal surgeon in Morriston Hospital, and a director and grower at Cae Felin CSA CIC. Cae Felin CSA CIC is a regenerative agriculture project that has transformed several acres of land owned by Swansea Bay University Health Board. Cae Felin CSA CIC’s vision is to create a regenerative food system- they will do this by applying regenerative agricultural principles to the development of fruit, vegetable, herbs and flower growing areas, to improve soil health, and enhance biodiversity, and produce healthy, chemical free food.

Wednesday 28th May - 7pm

Educating Health Professionals on Air Pollution- Malcolm White 

Dr Malcolm White practiced in Glasgow hospitals for over 10 years. Over that time he became increasingly concerned regarding climate change and its health impacts. He decided to shift his career into a path contributing to the solutions, starting work with the Clean Air Charity - Global Action Plan in late 2021. He now leads the health portfolio, working with the health sector in tackling air pollution from the frontline up to the national level.
